Action Swingers was an American noise rock band formed in New York City in 1989. The band's original lineup consisted of singer/guitarist Ned Hayden, bassist Tom Paine, drummer Jesse Peretz, and guitarist Howie Gartenberg. The band disbanded in the mid-1990s, but reunited in 2009 and played a few shows.
Their music was heavily influenced by punk rock, garage rock, and experimental music. They released their debut album, "Quit While You're Ahead," in 1991, followed by "Dead Sexy" in 1993. Both albums were released on the legendary indie label, "Ecstatic Peace!"
Action Swingers were known for their raw and energetic live shows and their irreverent, often humorous lyrics. They were part of the early 1990s New York noise rock scene that included bands like Sonic Youth, Pussy Galore, and Unsane. Some of their most well-known songs include "Kicked In The Head," "Miserable Life," and "Fear Of A Fucked Up Planet."
